Getting a travel visa to this country, which is famous for its bustling and fun streets of Bangkok, as well as other tourist areas, is a simple process. We will show you this process in this article.
Types of Thailand Visa
You can realize your planned trip to Thailand by obtaining a Thai tourist visa. The reasons for applying for this type of visa can be tourism, visiting family or friends, business trip, medical examination or treatment, short-term education, exchange programs and many other non-permanent nuances. If you want to study in Thailand for a long time or work permanently in an institution located here, you can also apply for a Thai national visa if you have an official invitation or acceptance letter from those educational and work institutions.
Thai Tourist Visa
There are single-entry and multiple-entry types of Thai visa. At the same time, you can apply for a short-term visa that will cover only your first visit or multiple-entry and long-term visa types. This varies depending on the purpose of your trip and your travel interval.
Note that in most cases, a Thai visa is issued to applicants for a period of 3 months.
Thailand Visa Application Documents
When applying for a Thailand visa, you must submit the following documents:
- Original and a copy of the first page of your foreign passport
- Copies of your previous visas and entry-exit stamps, if applicable
- Copy of your ID card
- Employment certificate* and, if applicable, salary slip (for students, certificate from the educational institution)
- Bank account certificate (Detailed information on the amount is listed below)
- 2 photos of yourself, 3.5x4.5 in size, with a white background
- Airline tickets you have booked for your trip
- Hotel reservations you have booked for your trip
- Application form filled out in English
- If you are applying for a visa for a business trip, not a tourist one, then an official invitation letter for that work, event or meeting
Documents marked with an “*” must be submitted to the embassy in English. If you have obtained the original document in Azerbaijani, not English, then each of these documents must be notarized and translated into English and submitted to the embassy.
If you are an entrepreneur, you can submit documents to the embassy that will replace the certificate from your workplace (a copy of your TIN, a certificate of your turnover from the Ministry of Taxes). If you are unemployed, studying, or in any case, you are sponsoring another person to cover the costs of your trip, then a copy of that person's ID card, a certificate from your workplace (if an entrepreneur, the documents listed above), a certificate and an extract from your bank account (this bank account can be in your name or the name of the sponsor), if you have a family relationship, a document confirming this (for example, if it is your parent, your birth certificate, if it is a brother or sister, both birth certificates, etc.) and a sponsorship paper must be submitted to the embassy. If the applicant is under 18 years of age, in this case, in case of traveling alone, a copy of the permission document from both parents or from the other parent if traveling with one of the parents, to leave the country, must also be submitted during the visa application.
Note that even if you submit documents such as TIN, turnover certificate from the Ministry of Taxes or sponsorship letter, permission letter, you must have each of these documents translated into English and certified by a notary.
Visa Procedure
Visa applications are accepted by the Embassy of Thailand in Baku and the decision is made by the consul at the consular department of the embassy.
There is no need to make a prior appointment to apply for a visa and submit documents. Reception days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 14:00 and 16:00 (except for official non-working days due to holidays). Personal presence is mandatory when submitting documents, but another person may come to collect the passport. For this, the person must present the original of the applicant's ID card.
The visa result is usually known within 30 working days and if the visa result is positive, the validity period of the visa is usually 3 months. Therefore, it is advisable to apply for a Thai visa at least 3 months before the date of travel.
The visa fee is 41 USD and is accepted in cash in dollars.
Chances of Getting a Thai Visa
As with all countries' visa applications, your chances of getting a visa in Thailand depend on your profile. Your job and position are normal, your monthly income is within the standard salary range (in practice, there have been many cases of visas being granted to people with monthly incomes between 300-500 AZN), you have enough money in your bank account to cover your entire trip, the presence of nuances that tie you to the country (having property in your name, having a family and children), and your travel history are factors that increase your chances of getting a Thai visa. For people who have no previous travel history, that is, who do not have a Schengen or other visa, the Thai embassy is not considered a risky embassy. In our experience, there have been many applicants who have received their first visas from this embassy. Of course, for this, all your other documents must be in order. Also, in any case, having previous visas is one of the factors that increases your chances of getting a Thai visa.
