Greece Visa Types
You can travel to Greece, which is part of the Schengen area, with a Greece Schengen visa. The reasons for applying for this visa may include tourism, visiting family or friends, business trips, medical treatment, short-term education, exchange programs, and other temporary purposes. Recently, many young people have opted to study for long-term programs (such as bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral studies) in Greece or work at institutions based there, in which case they can apply for a Greek national visa with official invitation or acceptance letters from the educational institution or employer.
Greece Schengen Visa
Like other Schengen countries, Greece offers single-entry and multiple-entry Schengen visas. You can apply for long-term visas as well, covering periods such as three months, six months, one year, two years, or five years. After obtaining a Greece Schengen visa, you can enter any Schengen country. However, we recommend that you make your first entry into the Schengen area through Greece, as entering from another country (especially Western European countries) might cause complications if not clearly stated during the application process.
If you are applying for a Greece Schengen visa, you must indicate that you will spend the most time in Greece during your trip. Many applicants and travelers add countries like Italy and Malta to their travel plans, which will not cause any issues with your visa application. You only need to specify Greece as your primary destination for your application to be processed by the Greek embassy.

After submitting your documents, the embassy may contact you for additional documentation or clarification.
Visa Procedure
To obtain a Greek Schengen visa, you need to apply to the Greek Embassy in Azerbaijan. The decision on the visa is made by the consular department of the embassy, by the consul.
To submit your documents, you can schedule an appointment by contacting the embassy at +99412 492 01 19 during weekdays. The appointment time is set based on the travel dates. The closer the travel date, the later the appointment will be.
Please note that when submitting the documents, a brief interview will take place with the consul. During this interview, you may be asked short questions about yourself, your personal life, your travel plans, and the purpose of your trip.
The embassy does not accept documents without an appointment. Visa applications can be made as early as 6 months before the travel date. Personal presence is mandatory when submitting documents.
The Schengen visa procedure usually takes 5 to 15 business days. However, the response may be received sooner or later. This should be considered when applying.
The visa fee must be paid in cash in the amount of 35 euros in national currency, i.e., in Azerbaijani manat. The exchange rate is determined by the embassy based on the daily rate.
Chance of Obtaining a Greek Schengen Visa
As with any embassy visa application, the chances of obtaining a visa in Greece depend on the condition of your profile. Having a stable job and position, a monthly income in the standard salary range (in practice, individuals with a monthly income of 300-500 AZN have often obtained a visa), showing enough funds in your bank account to cover the entire trip, having ties to the country (such as property in your name, family, and children), and having a travel history can increase your chances of obtaining a Greek Schengen visa. For individuals who have not previously held a Schengen visa, the Greek embassy is not considered a high-risk embassy. In our experience, many individuals who did not have a travel history received their first Schengen visa from the Greek embassy. Of course, all other documents must be in order. However, having previous Schengen visas can increase your chances of obtaining a visa from the Greek embassy.
