Located in Europe, a member of the European Union, but not a Schengen country, Croatia is a country visited by millions of tourists throughout the year. There are enough reasons for tourists to choose this country. With its capital city Zagreb, resort and tourist areas such as Dubrovnik, Trogir, Rovinj, sunny beaches along the Mediterranean Sea and countless attractions, it is quite normal for this country to attract the interest of the whole world. If you have chosen Croatia as your travel destination, you can get all the information about Croatia visa from this article.

Croatia Visa Types

You can realize your planned trip to Croatia by obtaining a Croatian tourist visa. The reasons for applying for this type of visa can be tourism, visiting family or friends, business trip, medical examination or treatment, short-term study, exchange programs and many other non-permanent nuances. If you want to study in Croatia for a long-term period of more than 90 days (such as bachelor's, master's, doctorate, etc.) or work permanently in an institution located here, apply for a Croatian national visa if you have official invitations or acceptance letters from those educational and work institutions. you can

Croatia Tourist Visa

Single-entry and multiple-entry Croatian visas are available. At the same time, you can apply for a short-term visa, which will cover only your first visit, or multiple-entry and long-term visa types. It varies depending on the purpose of your trip and the interval of your trip.

It should be noted that in most cases, the Croatian visa is issued in accordance with the travel period indicated by the applicant in the application form and other documents during the visa application.

Croatia has been a member of the European Union since July 1, 2013, but is not part of Schengen. Of course, since Croatia is part of the European Union, it has developed a simplified regime for people with an active Schengen visa to travel to Croatia. So, from January 22, 2014, the Republic of Croatia decided to apply a visa-free regime for transit or short-term visitors to its country with a Schengen visa. According to this decision, if citizens of Azerbaijan have an active multiple-entry Schengen visa, they can enter the territory of Croatia with this visa and stay in this country for a maximum of 90 days during the period of validity of the visa. However, you must have a multiple-entry Schengen visa.

Collection of Documents for Croatia Visa Application

When applying for a Croatian visa, you must submit the following documents:

Original and copy of the first page of your foreign passport
Copies of your previous visas and entry-exit stamps, if applicable
A copy of your identity card
Reference from the place of work* and, if applicable, an extract from the salary card (for persons studying, a reference from the educational institution) Reference and statement from the bank account in your name. (Detailed information about the amount is mentioned below)
Proof of your marital status* (copy of your marriage certificate if you are married, birth certificates if you have children under 18 or divorce certificate if your marriage has broken down)
2 photos of you, size 3.5x4.5, on a white background
Airline reservations you make for your trip
Hotel reservations you made for your trip
Travel insurance that will fully cover your trip and cover a minimum value of 30,000 EUR
Application form filled in English
If the visa is applied for a business visit rather than a tourist one, in this case, an official invitation letter related to that work, event or meeting

Documents marked with "*" must be submitted to the embassy in English. If you have obtained the original document in Azerbaijani rather than in English, in this case, each of these documents must be translated into English and certified by a notary and submitted to the embassy.

The amount in your bank account is based on the travel dates you have indicated, i.e. the length of your stay in Croatia, the price of the flight tickets and hotels you have booked, etc. varies depending. In general, it is recommended that you have at least 2,500-4,000 AZN in your bank account for a one-week trip (equivalent to Euros or US dollars). This amount should fully cover your travel plan. When calculating the amount, you can sum up the average daily cost of 60-70 euros for each day you indicate that you will be staying in the country with the price of your ticket and hotel reservations and assume a little higher than the figure you received.

If you are an entrepreneur, you can submit the documents that will replace the certificate from the workplace (a copy of the TIN, a certificate issued by the Ministry of Taxes about your turnover, an extract from the register of your company) to the embassy. If you are not working, studying or in any case sponsoring another person to cover the costs of your trip, in this case a copy of that person's identity card, proof of employment (if self-employed, the documents listed above), proof of bank account and statement (this bank account can be both in your name and in the name of the sponsor), if you have a family bond, a document confirming this (for example, if it is a parent, your own birth certificate, if it is a brother or sister, both of your birth certificates, etc.) and a paper about sponsorship to the embassy must be presented. If the applicant is under 18 years of age, in this case, if he is traveling alone, a copy of the permission document to leave the country from both parents or, if he is traveling with one of the parents, must also be submitted during the visa application.

It should be noted that even if you submit documents such as TIN, turnover certificate from the Ministry of Taxes, extract from the register of your company or sponsorship paper, permission paper, you must have each of these documents translated and certified into English by a notary.

Visa Procedure

If the person does not have an active multiple-entry Schengen visa, he/she must obtain a Croatian visa. For this, you can apply both to VFS Global, the Croatian visa center in Baku, and to the Croatian embassy in Baku. The decision is made by the consul in the consular department of the embassy.

You are required to attend the embassy in person during your visa application.

It should be noted that the visa result of the persons who applied for Croatian visa to the embassy is usually known within 2-5 working days.

The visa fee is 35 euros per person. If you want to apply for a long-term visa, the fee you will pay to the embassy is 100 euros. The fee is paid in cash, in euros, when submitting the documents.

Probability of getting Croatia Visa

Just as when applying for a visa at the embassy of any country, your chances of getting a visa in Croatia depend on the state of your profile. Your workplace and position should be normal, your monthly income should be in the standard salary range (in experience there have been many cases of obtaining visas for people with monthly income in the range of 300-500 AZN), you should show enough money in your bank account to cover your entire trip, the nuances that bind you to the country (having property in your name) , the presence of your family and children) and your travel history are factors that increase your chances of getting a Croatia visa. The Croatian embassy is not considered a high-risk embassy for persons with no previous travel history, i.e. no Schengen or other visa holders. In our experience, there were many applicants who got their first visas from this embassy. Of course, for this, all your other documents must be in order. Also, in any case, having your previous visas is one of the factors that increase your chances of getting a Croatia visa.
