Israel, known for its history, religious lands, geography, ancient monuments, the Dead Sea, and significant tourist attractions, has become one of the favorite destinations for travelers! The purposes of those traveling to Israel may vary, but what unites them all is the awe they feel from the moment they set foot in this country. If you are planning a trip to Israel, which will undoubtedly be one of the most important stops in your travel history, you can find detailed information about the Israeli tourist visa in this article.
Types of Israeli Visas

If you are planning to travel to Israel, you can make your plans a reality by obtaining an Israeli travel visa. The reasons for applying for this type of visa can include tourism, visiting family or friends, business trips, medical examinations or treatment, short-term education, exchange programs, and many other non-permanent purposes. If you intend to pursue long-term education (such as bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees) or work permanently at an institution in Israel, you can apply for the relevant long-term visa, provided you have official invitations or acceptance letters from those educational or work institutions.
Israeli Tourist Visa

The Israeli visa can be single-entry or multiple-entry. You can also apply for a short-term visa that covers only your first trip or opt for multiple-entry and long-term visa types. This depends on the purpose of your trip and your travel intervals. However, the Israeli embassy usually issues short-term and single-entry visas to Azerbaijani citizens.
It is worth noting that the Israeli visa is typically issued in accordance with the travel duration specified by the applicant in the application form and other documents during the visa application process.
Required Documents for Israeli Visa Application

When applying for an Israeli visa, you must submit the following documents:
- Original and a copy of the first page of your foreign passport
- Copies of previous visas and entry-exit stamps, if any
- Copy of your ID card
- Employment reference* and, if available, salary card statement (for students, a reference from the educational institution*)
- Employment reference from the e-government portal*
- Bank statement in your name* (details on the amount are provided below)
- Bank account statement for the last 3 months
- If applicable, property ownership documents* and a copy of your car's technical passport
- Proof of marital status* (if married, a marriage certificate; if you have children under 18, their birth certificates; or if divorced, a divorce certificate)
- 2 passport-sized photos (5x5 cm) on a white background
- Flight ticket bookings for your trip
- Hotel reservations for your trip
- Travel insurance covering your entire trip with a minimum coverage of 30,000 EUR
- Completed application form in English
- If applying for a business visa, an official invitation letter related to the business, event, or meeting

Documents marked with an "*" must be submitted to the embassy in English. If you have the original document in Azerbaijani, it must be notarized and translated into English before submission.
The amount in your bank account depends on your travel dates, the duration of your stay in Israel, the cost of your flight tickets and hotels, etc. Generally, it is recommended to have a minimum of 3,500-5,000 AZN (or equivalent in EUR or USD) in your account for a one-week trip. This amount should cover your entire travel plan. When calculating the amount, consider the cost of your flight tickets and hotel bookings, as well as an average daily expense of 60-70 USD per day, and add a little extra to the total.
If you are self-employed, you can submit documents such as a copy of your Tax Identification Number (VÖEN), a turnover statement from the Tax Ministry, and your company's extract from the registry instead of an employment reference. If you are unemployed, a student, or if someone else is sponsoring your trip, you must submit the sponsor's ID copy, employment reference (or the above-mentioned documents if they are self-employed), bank statement and account history (which can be in your name or the sponsor's name), and documents proving your relationship (e.g., birth certificate if the sponsor is your parent, or both your and your sibling's birth certificates if the sponsor is your sibling). If the applicant is under 18, a consent letter from both parents (or one parent if traveling with one) is required for the visa application.
Note that documents such as VÖEN, turnover statement from the Tax Ministry, company extract, sponsorship letter, or consent letter must also be notarized and translated into English.
Visa Procedure

Azerbaijani citizens apply for visas at the Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan.
No prior appointment is needed for the visa application. You can submit your documents in person between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
The visa fee is 44 AZN. After submitting the documents, the applicant will receive a payment slip to pay the visa fee at a bank. The payment receipt must be submitted to the consulate on the same day.
The visa process usually takes 7-10 business days.
The Israeli embassy may conduct an interview with the applicant during the visa process. Additionally, the embassy may require proof of hotel and flight bookings in some cases. If the visa is not granted, they usually do not directly reject the application but may ask for an official invitation letter from someone residing in Israel, pausing the visa process until the letter is received.
Chances of Obtaining an Israeli Visa

As with visa applications to any country, your chances of obtaining an Israeli visa depend on your profile. Factors that increase your chances include having a stable job and position, a monthly income above the standard range (in practice, applicants with a monthly income of 600-700 AZN have been granted visas), sufficient funds in your bank account to cover your trip, ties to your home country (such as property ownership, family, and children), and a good travel history. Applicants without prior travel history (e.g., no Schengen or other visas) are considered at higher risk. However, if other factors in your profile are strong and you have an official invitation letter from Israel, you may still have a chance of obtaining the visa. In any case, a good travel history significantly impacts your chances of getting an Israeli visa.
