Canada is on the list of countries that decorate the dreams of millions of people. About 50 million tourists visit Canada every year, which is considered an ideal country for travel. This cold country, with its geography, nature and climate, large tourist cities such as Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver, Niagara Falls, countless tourist facilities, has become a "hot travel destination" for every person. Obtaining a Canadian visa can seem difficult, if not impossible, to many. But by following the right procedure and also by making the right choices and learning the factors that will increase your chances, you can make the seemingly impossible possible! In this article, we present you the entire procedure and the nuances that will increase your chances of getting a visa!
Canadian Visa Types
If you want to travel to Canada for tourism purposes, you apply for a Canadian tourist visa. The reasons for applying for this type of visa can be tourism, visiting family or friends, business trip, medical examination or treatment, short-term study, exchange programs and many other non-permanent nuances. If you want to study in Canada for longer than 6 months (such as bachelor's, master's, doctorate, etc.) or work permanently in an institution located here, you must apply for a Canadian national visa (residence permission) you can also apply.
Canadian Tourist Visa
Canadian tourist visa is introduced under the title "Visitor Visa".
Canadian tourist visas are issued to applicants with multiple entries and until the end of the validity period of your passport. For example, if your newly acquired passport is valid for 10 years, your Canadian visa is also considered to be valid for ten years. You can stay in Canada for a maximum of 6 consecutive months after obtaining this visa. Since the visa is issued with multiple entries, at the end of a maximum of 6 months you can leave Canada and come back again and stay for another 6 months.
Collection of Documents for Canadian Visa Application
When applying for a Canadian visa, you must submit the following documents:
Original and copy of the first page of your foreign passport
Copies of your previous visas and entry-exit stamps, if applicable
A copy of your identity card
Reference from the place of work* and, if applicable, an extract from the salary card (for persons studying, a reference from the educational institution) Reference and statement from the bank account in your name (Detailed information about the amount is mentioned below)
Copies of extracts* of properties in your name and a copy of your car's passport, if applicable
Proof of your marital status* (copy of your marriage certificate if you are married, birth certificates if you have children under 18 or divorce certificate if your marriage has broken down)
5x4.5 size photo of you on a white background
Airline reservations you make for your trip
Hotel reservations you made for your trip
Your completed application forms in English
Your document confirming the payment of the visa fee
If the visa is applied for a business visit rather than a tourist one, in this case, an official invitation letter related to that work, event or meeting
Documents marked with "*" must be submitted to the embassy in English. If you have obtained the original document in Azerbaijani rather than in English, in this case, each of these documents must be translated into English and certified by a notary and submitted to the embassy.
The amount in your bank account is based on the travel dates you have indicated, i.e. the length of your stay in Canada, the price of the flight tickets and hotels you have booked, etc. varies depending. In general, it is recommended that you have at least 5,000-7,000 AZN in your bank account for a one-week trip (equivalent to Euro or US dollars). This amount should fully cover your travel plan. When calculating the amount, you can sum up the average daily cost of 70-80 dollars for each day you indicate that you will be staying in the country with the price of your ticket and hotel reservations and assume a little higher than the figure you received.
If you are an entrepreneur, you can submit the documents that will replace the certificate from the workplace (a copy of the TIN, a certificate issued by the Ministry of Taxes about your turnover, an extract from the register of your company) to the embassy. If you are not working, studying or in any case sponsoring another person to cover the costs of your trip, in this case a copy of that person's identity card, proof of employment (if self-employed, the documents listed above), proof of bank account and statement (this bank account can be both in your name and in the name of the sponsor), if you have a family bond, a document confirming this (for example, if it is a parent, your own birth certificate, if it is a brother or sister, both of your birth certificates, etc.) and a paper about sponsorship to the embassy must be presented. If the applicant is under 18 years of age, in this case, if he is traveling alone, a copy of the permission document to leave the country from both parents or, if he is traveling with one of the parents, must also be submitted during the visa application.
It should be noted that even if you submit documents such as TIN, turnover certificate from the Ministry of Taxes, extract from the register of your company or sponsorship paper, permission paper, you must have each of these documents translated and certified into English by a notary.
Visa Procedure
There are two ways to apply for a Canadian visa: online and on paper
Apply online
During the online application, the applicant creates an account for himself in the online portal. Logging in to that account, he chooses the type of visa he wants to apply for, answers the necessary questions, and then a page opens showing the list of required documents (as well as application forms). After all the documents are uploaded to the system, the application is approved, it is directed to the page for payment and the payment is made online. After that, all notifications about the next steps are sent to that account. After receiving the notification, the applicant should print the notification and approach the nearest visa center along with his/her passport for fingerprinting.
After giving the fingerprint, the visa procedure begins. When the answer is clear, a notification is sent to the account again. If the answer is negative, there is a notification indicating the reason for refusal. If the answer is positive, the original passport is required to attach the visa sticker to the passport. The applicant prints that notice and approaches the visa application center with his passport. The visa application center receives the passport and sends it to the Canadian Embassy in Ankara for the visa sticker to be affixed. The procedure of sending the passport to the Canadian Embassy, affixing the visa sticker and sending it back from the Canadian Embassy to the visa application center takes about 6-8 working days.
Application on paper
During this type of application, the originals of all the required documents, including the passport, are submitted to the visa application center and they, in turn, send these documents to the Canadian embassy in Ankara. Application forms are filled out electronically, printed and signed. They are also submitted to the visa application center together with the documents. A fingerprint is taken at the same time when presenting the documents.
The visa fee is paid online again, and after payment, a check is printed and added to the documents.
After the visa result is known, if a visa has been issued, it is returned with the visa sticker inside the passport. If the visa is refused, the passport is returned together with the refusal paper.
In general, the Canadian tourist visa application usually takes 20-30 working days.
Visa costs include a CAD 100 (Canadian dollar) embassy fee, a CAD 85 biometric data collection fee, and a AZN 25 visa application center fee. You pay the 100 CAD + 85 CAD fee online and the 25 AZN fee in cash at the visa center.
Probability of Obtaining a Canadian Visa
As when applying for a visa at the embassy of any country, your chances of getting a visa in Canada depend on the state of your profile. Your workplace and position are normal and good, your monthly income is higher than the standard salary range (in experience, visas have been obtained for people with a monthly income in the range of 700-800 AZN, there have been many cases), you have enough money in your bank account to cover your entire trip, the nuances that bind you to the country Availability (property in your name, family and children) and a good travel history are factors that increase your chances of getting a Canadian visa. Applying for a Canadian visa is considered risky for people with no previous travel history, that is, without a Schengen or other visa holder. The fact that you have a good travel history, and that you have previously received visas from countries such as Schengen, the United States, and the United Kingdom, is a direct and highly influential factor in obtaining a Canadian visa. Also, our experience shows that having an active US visa is a huge advantage for you when applying for a Canadian visa.
