"THE KEY TO THE CASTLE GATES" - CZECH REPUBLIC SHENGEN VISA

Vizam.az 13 April 2020 38 views 8 min. read

Surrounded by mountains on all four sides, with the largest number and largest castles in the world, the geography reminiscent of the "land of fairy tales", the Czech Republic can be seen as the gateway to Europe. If you also want to get a Czech tourist Schengen visa and realize your planned trip, you can find detailed information about the visa in this article.

Czech Visa Types

Since the Czech Republic belongs to the list of Schengen countries, you can apply for a Czech Schengen visa to realize your temporary trip and obtain this visa. The reasons for applying for this type of visa can be tourism, visiting family or friends, business trip, medical examination or treatment, short-term study, exchange programs and many other non-permanent nuances. If you wish to receive long-term studies in the Czech Republic lasting more than 90 days (such as bachelor's, master's, doctoral studies, etc.) or to work permanently in an institution located in the Czech Republic, apply for a Czech national visa if you have official invitations or acceptance letters from those educational and work institutions. you can In this article, we will provide detailed information about the Czech Schengen visa.

Czech Schengen Visa

Czech Schengen visa can be single-entry or multiple-entry. It should be noted that in our experience, the lowest number of multiple-entry visas was issued at the Czech embassy among the Schengen countries. In most cases, the Czech embassy issues a single-entry Schengen visa to the applicants, which covers the first travel dates in full and only a certain "corridor" period. However, in our experience, multiple-entry, six-month, one-year or two-year Schengen visas have been issued, albeit rarely. You can enter any Schengen country after obtaining a Czech Schengen visa. But in any case, we absolutely recommend that you make your first entry into the Schengen area from the country where you received your visa, i.e. the Czech Republic. Otherwise, if you try to enter the Schengen area with a Czech visa from another country (especially Western European countries), the border service of that country may turn you back and not allow you to enter the country, if you do not mention it during your visa application. This experience has been experienced in many cases and therefore we advise you to avoid this risk.

If you are applying for a Czech Schengen visa, you must indicate the maximum number of days you will be staying in the Czech Republic during your trip. In some cases, Azerbaijani citizens apply for a Czech Schengen visa if they show that they will make their first entry from Hungary, where they can get a cheap plane ticket from Baku. In this case, if you indicate to the embassy that you will stay in the Czech Republic as the maximum number of days during your trip, you can apply for a visa without any problems. In practice, people who first entered the Czech Republic from Hungary with a Czech visa have almost never faced a major problem or been refused entry to the country for that very reason.

Collection of Documents for Czech Visa Application

When applying for a Czech Schengen visa, you must submit the following documents:

Original and copy of the first page of your foreign passport
Copies of your previous visas and entry-exit stamps, if applicable
A copy of your identity card
Reference from the place of work* and, if applicable, an extract from the salary card (for persons studying, a reference from the educational institution) Statement and statement from the bank account linked to the card in your name (Detailed information about the amount is mentioned below)
A copy of the main face of your bank card
Copies of extracts* of properties in your name and a copy of your car's passport, if applicable
Proof of your civil status* (copy of your marriage certificate if you are married, birth certificates if you have children under 18 or divorce certificate if your marriage has broken down)
2 pieces of 3.5x4.5 size, biometric and your photo on a white background
Airline reservations you make for your trip
Signed and stamped confirmation letters from those hotels about the hotel reservations you made for your trip
Schengen-compliant travel insurance that will fully cover your trip
Application form filled in English and in capital letters only
A printed version of the document issued from the system on confirmation of appointment
If the visa is applied for a business visit rather than a tourist one, in this case, an official invitation letter related to that work, event or meeting

Documents marked with "*" must be submitted to the embassy in English. If you have obtained the original document in Azerbaijani rather than in English, in this case, each of these documents must be translated into English and certified by a notary and submitted to the embassy.

The amount in your bank account is based on the travel dates you have indicated, i.e. the length of your stay in Schengen, the price of the flight tickets and hotels you have booked, etc. varies depending. In general, it is recommended that you have at least 1,500-3,000 AZN in your bank account for a one-week trip (equivalent to Euro or US dollars). This amount should fully cover your travel plan. When calculating the amount, you can sum up the average daily cost of 70-80 euros for each day you indicate that you will stay in the Schengen area with the price of your ticket and hotel reservations, and expect a little higher than the figure you received.

If you are an entrepreneur, you can submit the documents that will replace the certificate from the workplace (a copy of the TIN, a certificate issued by the Ministry of Taxes about your turnover, an extract from the register of your company) to the embassy. If you are not working, studying or in any case sponsoring another person to cover the costs of your trip, in this case a copy of that person's identity card, proof of employment (if self-employed, the documents listed above), proof of bank account and statement (this bank account can be both in your name and in the name of the sponsor), if you have a family bond, a document confirming this (for example, if it is a parent, your own birth certificate, if it is a brother or sister, both of your birth certificates, etc.) and a paper about sponsorship to the embassy must be submitted. If the applicant is under 18 years of age, in this case, if he is traveling alone, a copy of the permission document to leave the country from both parents or, if he is traveling with one of the parents, must also be submitted during the visa application.

It should be noted that even if you submit documents such as TIN, turnover certificate from the Ministry of Taxes, extract from the register of your company or sponsorship paper, permission paper, you must have each of these documents translated and certified into English by a notary.

Hotel and Airfare

When applying for a visa at the Czech Embassy, you can show your flight tickets as a reservation. That is, you don't need to buy your flight tickets in advance, you don't need to pay, you just need to make a reservation. If you indicate that you will be staying in Schengen countries other than the Czech Republic, in this case, in addition to the entry and exit ticket to the Czech Republic, you must provide documents confirming the transport between those countries (flight ticket, bus ticket, train ticket or reservations, etc.).

When it comes to hotels, you must obtain a confirmation letter from the hotels you indicated you will be staying at during your trip when applying for a visa at the Czech Embassy, confirming your reservation. That is, you do not need to officially pay for the hotel in advance or buy the place you will stay in advance, it is enough to put the confirmation letter confirming your reservation, signed and stamped by the hotel among your documents. However, in most cases, when you contact the hotel and ask for this confirmation letter from them, the hotel staff may tell you that they can send this letter only after making the payment. In most cases, you end up having to pay the hotel in advance so that you can officially receive this letter from the hotel confirming your reservation. If you indicate that you will be staying not only in the Czech Republic, but also in other Schengen countries, then you must obtain signed and stamped confirmation letters confirming your reservation from the hotels in all the countries you indicate, and submit these documents to the embassy. If you have booked your accommodation through Airbnb, you must submit to the embassy the confirmation of your reservation sent to you by Airbnb, the payment check sent to you by Airbnb, and the statement from the bank card you used to pay for the Airbnb reservation.

Visa Procedure

Application for a Czech Schengen visa is made at the visa application center of the Czech Embassy "VFS Global". The decision on the visa is made by the consul in the consular department of the Czech embassy. In order to submit the documents, you need to make an appointment with VFS Global in the online system in advance. Although it is mandatory to make an appointment in advance, you can pay an additional 144 AZN and use the "Premium Lounge" service and submit the documents without making an appointment. Visa application can be made at least 6 months before the date of the trip. All applicants are required to be personally present when submitting documents, except for applicants who are exempt from fingerprinting. Applicants who are exempt from fingerprinting do not have to attend in person if they give a notarized power of attorney to another person to present the documents.

Persons exempt from fingerprinting are divided into the following groups:

Persons who received a Schengen visa in the last 5 years and have fingerprints in the system;
Children under 12 years of age;
Persons who are physically unable to provide fingerprints;
Persons holding diplomatic or special passports and accredited for diplomatic or consular post in the Czech Republic;
Diplomatic or consular personnel and their family members (spouse and dependent children) who will be assigned to an international organization with a Czech center or representative office.

The Schengen visa procedure usually takes 15 calendar days (excluding official non-working days related to holidays) from the date of application. You can pick up your passport again from VFS Global after your visa reply.

When submitting the documents, the visa fee is 35 euros, the service fee of the visa center is 23 euros, and the SMS service fee is 3 AZN for informing about the completion of the visa procedure and the passport is ready. It is possible to pay this payment both in cash and by card in the form of euros or manats. The manat equivalent of the visa fee is adjusted by the embassy according to the exchange rate of the day.

Probability of Obtaining a Czech Schengen Visa

As with the visa application of any country, your chances of getting a visa in the Czech Republic depend on the state of your profile. Your workplace and position should be normal, your monthly income should be in the standard salary range (in experience, there have been many cases of obtaining visas for people with a monthly income of 200-400 AZN), you should show enough money in your bank account to cover your entire trip, the nuances that bind you to the country (having property in your name) , the presence of your family and children) are factors that increase your chances of getting a Czech Schengen visa. It should be noted that for a Czech visa, it is not necessary to have a good travel history, that is, to have previous Schengen visas. In practice, it can be seen that one of the embassies where people who have not had a visa before and who have not been to Europe get a visa in their first Schengen visa application is the Czech embassy. This is of course only if your other documents are in order. If your documents are in order and you have paid attention to the nuances listed above, your chances of getting a Czech Schengen visa are quite high.
