Brazil, the largest country in South America, attracts more than 10 million tourists every year. It is known for its geography, its Atlantic coast, the unique beauty of Rio de Janeiro, its vibrant lifestyle, and the statue of Christ the Redeemer, which is considered one of the new seven wonders of the world. A trip to Brazil is a dream come true for many tourists. If you want to make this dream come true, you need to get a Brazilian visa. In this article, you will find information about how to obtain a visa.
Brazil Visa Types
A tourist visa is usually required to travel to Brazil. This visa is issued for temporary purposes such as tourism, family visits, business trips, medical examinations, short-term studies or exchange programs. If you plan to study in Brazil for a long time (bachelor's, master's, doctorate) or to work permanently, you can apply for a national visa. In this case, an official invitation or acceptance letter must be submitted.
Brazil Tourist Visa
It is intended for long-term travel. The type of visa depends on the purpose and duration of the trip. Typically, a Brazilian visa is issued for one year and is multiple-entry.
Documents Required for a Brazil Visa
The following documents must be submitted when applying for a visa:
- Original and copy of the first page of your passport.
- Copies of your previous visas and entry-exit stamps, if applicable.
- Copy of your ID card.
- Reference from your place of employment* and, if applicable, a salary slip (for students, a reference from your educational institution). Reference from your bank account (Detailed information on the amount is listed below).
- 2 3x4 photos of you, with a white background.
- Airline tickets you have booked for your trip.
- Hotel reservations you have made for your trip.
- Application form completed in English.
- If you are applying for a visa for a business trip, not a tourist one, then an official invitation letter for that job, event or meeting.
Documents marked with an “*” must be submitted to the embassy in English. If you have obtained the original document in Azerbaijani rather than English, each of these documents must be notarized and translated into English and submitted to the embassy.
The amount in your bank account is determined by factors such as the length of your stay in Brazil, the cost of your flight tickets and hotel reservations. It is recommended to have at least 3,000-5,000 AZN (or equivalent in euros, US dollars) in your account for a week's trip. This amount should cover all the costs of your trip. When making calculations, in addition to flight and hotel costs, you should consider approximately 60-70 dollars for each day you will be in the country and plan for a figure slightly higher than the total amount.
If you are an entrepreneur, you can submit a copy of your TIN instead of a certificate from your place of work. If you are unemployed, studying, or have a sponsor to cover your travel expenses, you must submit the sponsor's ID card, employment certificate (if an entrepreneur, a copy of TIN), bank account reference and statement (in your or the sponsor's name), a document confirming family ties (for example, a birth certificate), and a sponsorship letter. For persons under 18 years of age, parental permission is required (permission from both parents if traveling alone; permission from the other parent if traveling with one parent).
Please note that documents such as TIN, sponsorship letter, or parental permission must be notarized and translated into English.
Visa Procedure
Applications for a Brazilian visa are submitted to the Brazilian Embassy in Baku. The decision is made by the consul of the consular department.
The processing of a tourist visa application usually takes 3-5 business days.
The visa fee is 152 AZN. After submitting the documents, you will be given a check for payment. The payment based on this check should be made at the Main Building of the International Bank of Azerbaijan (67 Nizami Street) and the payment receipt should be presented to the consulate on the same day.
Chances of Getting a Brazilian Visa
As with all countries' visa applications, your chances of getting a visa in Brazil depend on the status of your profile. Your job and position are normal, your monthly income is within the standard salary range (in practice, there have been many cases of visas being granted to people with monthly incomes between 300-500 AZN), you have enough money in your bank account to cover your entire trip, the presence of nuances that tie you to the country (having property in your name, having a family and children), and your travel history are factors that increase your chances of getting a Brazilian visa. For people who have no previous travel history, that is, who do not have a Schengen or other visa, the Brazilian embassy is not considered a risky embassy. In our experience, there have been many applicants who have received their first visas from this embassy. Of course, for this, all your other documents must be in order. Also, in any case, having previous visas is one of the factors that increases your chances of getting a Brazilian visa.
